Family-Friendly Restaurants in Mallorca
Mallorcan food culture genuinely embraces families — children are welcomed everywhere. But not everywhere is equally suited to wrangling toddlers. These are the restaurants we'd actually return to with our own kids.
One of Palma's most celebrated traditional restaurants, with an excellent children's menu and outdoor terrace. The suckling pig (lechazo) is a must. Loud, lively, and genuinely welcoming to families.
Located inside the lighthouse at the mouth of the Sóller bay, with breathtaking views. Fresh fish, local seafood, and a relaxed pace. Children are welcomed warmly and the setting keeps them entertained.
A no-frills, honest grillhouse that families return to year after year. The parrillada (mixed grill) is extraordinary value. Children universally love it — simple food, huge portions, family atmosphere.
Casual bistro close to the Alcúdia beach with a shaded garden. Excellent salads, grilled fish, and a relaxed vibe that suits even toddlers. Staff are genuinely patient with small children.
Set among the vineyards of Binissalem, this is a special occasion choice for families. The courtyard is beautiful, the menu showcases local ingredients, and the children's option is genuinely good.
Palma's indoor market, with food stalls covering everything from tapas to fresh juice and pastries. Not a restaurant per se, but an ideal family lunch stop — everyone picks what they want, and the noise level is forgiving.

- Spaniards eat late. Lunch is 2–4pm; dinner starts at 9pm. Tourist areas adapt, but for the best experience, adjust to local timing where possible.
- Menú del día (set lunch menu) is brilliant value — typically 3 courses for €12–15, including a drink. Most offer child portions.
- Mallorcans love children. Don't be embarrassed by noise or mess — locals will often be charmed. That said, very smart restaurants may not be the best choice.
- Outdoor seating (terrassa) is standard in good weather and much more relaxed with small children.
- Tapas and pintxos work well for picky eaters — order a range and let children pick. Puerto Portals and Sa Coma have excellent tapas bars.
- Allergies: "Mi hijo tiene alergia a..." (My child is allergic to...) is worth learning. Most restaurant staff in tourist areas also speak English.
Dishes children usually love
- Croquetas — Creamy béchamel croquettes, mild and popular with all ages.
- Tumbet — Baked layers of potato, aubergine, and tomato. A Mallorcan staple.
- Sobrassada — Cured sausage spread on bread. Rich and sweet; children often love it.
- Ensaimada — The iconic Mallorcan spiral pastry. Great for breakfast or as a snack.
- Flaó de figues — Fig and anise tart for dessert. Not everyone's cup of tea, but a great thing to try.
- Grilled fish a la plancha — Simply cooked, unfussy, fresh. Most children enjoy it.
